Arranged a wedding appointment at a coffee shop hafway between my home and that of the bride and groom. The trip took me exactly twenty minutes.
After completing all the legal documents, discussing the content and format of the wedding ceremony, I made my way home. This time it took me an hour and a half. It was a bumper to bumper journey.
I thought back to the kind of wedding travel I used to do twenty years ago. On one weekend, I actually conducted two wedding ceremonies in the morning. Two wedding ceremonies in the afternoon. And managed to drop in at home to catch a sandwich in between.
Do celebrants still do that?
